Bible verses about anger

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold… Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice…

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools… Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end… A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger…

A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel… Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly… Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land… But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.

Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell… But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.”

Ephesians 4:26-27,31; Ecclesiastes 7:9; Proverbs 29:11,15:11,18, 14:29; Psalm 37:8-9; Matthew 5:22; Colossians 3:8

Bible verses about anger

Life is full of troubles and evil and unfair practices.

Your response is not anger.

As you read above, anger leads to bitterness or rage or malice.

Anger causes even more conflict which leads to destruction.

Replace your anger with calm.

This takes intent and faith on your part.

You can.

Trust God to make things right and fair.

He will … probably not in your time table but at the right time for you, for others, and for all time.

Your turn …

Who are you angry with?

Make peace and make it now.

If the other person does not want peace, step away and step away now knowing you have been faithful.

Secondly, what stirs your anger?

Bring it to God in prayer and allow Him to lead you to a more calming and holy response.

The next time you feel your anger stir, breathe and pray.

With eyes closed and your heart softened to His leading, give it to Him and let it go completely and forever.

In humility and with praise come and pray…

“Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles…

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love…Praise the LORD, all His heavenly hosts, you servants who do His will. Praise the LORD, all His works everywhere in His dominion. Yes. Praise the LORD, my soul.”

Psalm 103:1-5,8,21-22

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

James 1:19-20

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?

Would you like to get more involved in the beLydia Movement?

Parents and friends, there are kids being sold for sex right now and they are still going to school and their parents have no idea.

They are being tricked, (often through social media and texting apps) into sharing compromising photos and then trapped into selling more or are tricked into having sex.

WE CAN PREVENT THIS THROUGH SHARING AWARENESS.
