“As surely as I live”, says the LORD, “every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will acknowledge
God…Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship…God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
Romans 14:11,12:1; John 4:24
Why worship is reserved for God alone
All worship is to be reserved for God and God alone.
Know in everything you think, say and do – it is an act of worship.
You must take care of where and to whom and what your worship is directed. This is not a negotiation. Any worship for another or a thing or an activity is idolatry. This includes loved ones, work, and hobbies … everything.
People in your lives are for a healthy and loving relationship – not worship. Work is good and hobbies are healthy for refreshment.
But a balance must be maintained. Never will God tolerate shared worship. “I am the LORD; that is My Name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.” Isaiah 42:8
Your turn …
First, make a list of those relationships and activities where you are in danger of crossing the line.
Now make a commitment of love in the relationship and dedication to work and enjoyment in activities and things
Remember – worship is reserved entirely for the Lord.
Follow the instructions found in My word.
“Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy are in His dwelling place. Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His Name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness. Tremble before Him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!”
1 Chronicles 16:23-31
Make these actions a habit in your daily routine as you interact with the world and make your way to glory.
Now, in submission, pray:
“Blessed be Your glorious Name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the LORD. And, You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You…
How great you are, Sovereign LORD! There is no one like You, and there is no God but You, as we have heard with our own ears…LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your Name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.”
Nehemiah 9:5-6; 2 Samuel 7:22; Isaiah 25:1
“By Myself, I have sworn, My mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before Me, every knee will bow; by Me, every tongue will swear.”
Isaiah 45:23
Father God is eternally yours!
How to do this as a weekly Bible study
Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”
Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).
Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”
Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.
Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
