The promise of a life lived with accountability is peace

“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?

If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness” and again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”

So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours…and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God…In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead…What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?… So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.”

1 Corinthians 3:11-21,23; James 2:17; Rom 6:1-2,14:12

The promise of a life lived with accountability is peace

Are you accountable to anyone?

My intent today is Not to frighten you.

Truly, it is to tell you truth you must know and believe in order to live a life of peace now and forever.

Remember, “Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you
when you forsake the LORD your God and have no awe of Me.”
 Jeremiah 2:19

Indeed, God loves showering grace on you. Further, He loves forgiving you.

Each came at a huge price. Words with no follow through action are meaningless and will be dealt with as promised.

Your turn

My precious child, take a good long and complete look at how you are living your life.

Let God help you identify areas where you need to fully confess and then completely repent and go the direction He leads.

Do it today! Do it every day! God truly is on your side. However, the world is not.

Now humbly pray

“Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart—they do no wrong but follow His ways. You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying Your decrees! Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all Your commands. I will praise You with an upright heart as I learn Your righteous laws.

I will obey Your decrees; do not utterly forsake me…

I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to Your Word. I gave an account of my ways and You answered me; teach me Your decrees. Cause me to understand the way of Your precepts that I may meditate on Your wonderful deeds. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to Your Word. Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me Your law.”

Psalm 119:1-8…25-29

“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words, you will be condemned…If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.”

Matthew 12:36-37; Hebrews 10:26

The Lord God holds you accountable for all of your actions.

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
