How to NOT be Afraid

Fear is a tool the enemy uses to entice you away from God.

Fear is a lie and the product of unbelief.

You cannot be victorious while fear rules any part of your life.

Fear clouds your senses and dims the light of God’s truth.

Fear is nothing more than false expectations appearing real. It is like a lion with no teeth. It looks ominous and causes you to stop progressing down your path of blessing. Fear brings no joy and no peace.

And once it stops you, it isn’t finished with you.

It moves you backward and side to side causing a rippling effect that removes future possibilities and opportunities in your future. Possibilities and opportunities forever lost. It is way past time for you to live a fearless life.

What is stopping you?

And, what are you afraid of?

What has fear restored or conquered for you?

Take whatever time you need to self-examine.

Let the Spirit help you identify and inventory these dark recesses in your mind – in your soul. Let God
help you rid them.

Meditate or journal or exercise as you line them up and call them out.

Now give them to God and don’t ever take them back, but when you do and you will because of bad habits
are hard to break – Stop and Return to Him!

Now rest some moments and pray …

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God, I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me? In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise—in God, I
trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me? I am under vows to You, my God; I will present my thank
offerings to You. You have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before
God in the light of life.”

Psalm 56:3-4,10-13

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control…Have I not commanded you? Be
strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you
wherever you go.”

2 Timothy 1:7; Joshua 1:9

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
