“The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith… Now, this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace… Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.”
1 Timothy 1:5; 2 Corinthians 1:12; Ephesians 6:24
How to lose the fake and embrace the real
Are we sincere people?
Did you know that you cannot fool God – ever!
You can occasionally fool people with your sweet words and pretty smiles.
You can sometimes win allies with compliments and actions that win favor. But not God. He knows our hearts.
The enemy wants you infested with a fear that is addicted to self.
God wants you free to know and experience a selfless, pure and sincere love that results in complete joy and peace.
His love for you is sincere and all-encompassing.
God will accept nothing less from you or for you.
Your turn …
Honestly examine your love for God.
Remember, He already knows.
Is it with all you have and are?
What and Why?
If at all possible, journal this down and then write or call the reasons what they are – Lies!
Do not let these truths take you down. Use these truths as a springboard to a new beginning.
You see, God also knows that you cannot love Him completely on your own. But you can give this task to Him and He will get you there…step by step – I promise! I implore you to let Him!
On your knees pray …
“Your hands made me and formed me; give me the understanding to learn Your commands. May those who fear You rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in Your Word.”
Psalm 119:73-74
“Love must be sincere.”
Romans 12:9
A great God sincerely loves you!
How to do this as a weekly Bible study
Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”
Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).
Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”
Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.
Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
