Have you ever been tempted to hurry God? Don’t hurry God!

“Be still before the LORD, all mankind, because He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling… For the battle is not yours, but God’s…Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes!”

Zechariah 2:13; 2 Chronicles 20:15; 1 Samuel 12:16

Have you ever been tempted to hurry God? Don’t hurry God!

Are you ever tempted to hurry God?

One of your biggest mistakes is making a decision and taking action before going to God … before allowing Him the opportunity to make a correction and lead you in the way you should go for your best interests.

This idea that humans are in charge is one of the biggest lies the enemy tells and you humans believe. You aren’t. Any sense of control is temporary and an illusion provided by the enemy.

And every time you charge in to solve the problem or fix the mess … well if you are honest, you know the problem becomes more complicated and the mess becomes a disaster.

Look around. Check out history. Looking closely, you see mess after mess. This world is broken and becoming more broken every day. If you are to navigate the mess successfully, you must follow God’s lead.

On your own is just another ditch.

Your turn

List out those messes and problems you presently face.

Also, list your solutions.

Now, take them to God and be still about them unless you hear His Spirit directing the path to take.

Make this another habit overlaying your action with waiting on God. He’s not on your time schedule but He’s always on time.

Now, be still and quietly pray

“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge.”

Psalm 62:5-7

“The LORD is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him…Be still and know that I am God…The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Habakkuk 2:20; Psalm 46:10; Exodus 14:14

The Lord God is fighting for you!

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
