What does the Bible say about sin?

Sin… Always takes you further than you want to go, keeps you longer than you want to stay, and costs you more than you want to pay.

“If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it… The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God…

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming…

But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear… All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind, our sins sweep us away…

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts…”

Genesis 4:7; Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:5-6; Isaiah 59:2, 64:6; Romans 1:18-24

What does the Bible say about sin?

You fool yourselves when you knowingly sin thinking ‘it’s really no big deal’.

It is a huge deal because you have just opened the door to the enemy and “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

And that someone will be you.

Don’t daughter.

Don’t ever.

You never know how deep the ditch is until you are already in it. You won’t know how hot the water is until you are already boiled.

Stop and turn back.

Your turn…

What sin(s) are you struggling with?

Name them and know this and do this … “Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.”

Isaiah 50:7

In repentance and humility come and pray…

“God, have mercy on me, a sinner…LORD, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Luke 18:13; Matthew 8:2

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?

Would you like to get more involved in the beLydia Movement?

Parents and friends, there are kids being sold for sex right now and they are still going to school and their parents have no idea.

They are being tricked, (often through social media and texting apps) into sharing compromising photos and then trapped into selling more or are tricked into having sex.

WE CAN PREVENT THIS THROUGH SHARING AWARENESS.
