April Goals

April snuck up on me. On one hand, the fact that it’s April 4th and I’m just now sitting down to write this could send me into a tailspin.

Shame for not keeping up, not managing my time well (one of my goals), etc.

But life happens.

I got horrifically sick, not once but twice. I am taking two online classes at Liberty University to get a certificate in Christian Ministry and they are challenging!

We have THREE events coming up.

We are re-launching our Home Awareness program which I’m incredibly excited about but it’s a lot of work.

Add to all of that family life, husband having surgery in another state, and everything else. It’s just LIFE and I am thankful for Jesus, that’s all I can say.

TIME MANAGEMENT: Simplify to be more productive

April update: SIGH.

I need a week to catch up on my life. How can I make that happen? My goal for April is to get back to blogging. I find it therapeutic and it helps me stay connected to everyone that is here reading (Hi!).

HEALTH: To be in the best health of my life for my kids and grandkids

April update:  I’m walking, and that’s about it. I stink at exercise–what can I say.

So, my cholesterol doubled (probably from too much “good” fat) but also my glucose and insulin are way too high, and I’m not on sugar or even fruit. Not sure what’s going on.

I’m going to make a few changes to see what happens and will update next month.

HOME: Peace, calm and rest

April update: My house is a zoo. Peace, calm and rest—where are you?

My goal was to finish organizing the playroom by the end of March, and I did do one part of it but then made the other part worse.

FUN: Find the joy in life and share it

April update: Right now, I just want to get through April which I’m realizing is not a great attitude. I am SUPER grateful for so many things, so I’m going to concentrate on being grateful every single day.

We did have a nice spring break. My youngest had two weeks off which is wonderful (but also contributing to me being behind in everything).

FAMILY: Make each moment matter

April update:  I have not done one thing on family photos. Another failure! (FYI: this is not helping me feel better by going through all my goals that I’ve failed at)

FINANCES: Be a good steward and live for the Kingdom, not the world

April update: Finally, something I’m doing better at, thankfully! I gave up personal spending for our fast, and so far, I’m doing well! I’m afraid to talk about it though because the flesh is weak, boasting never ends well, and all of that. As soon as I start bragging I know I’ll end up shopping.

SPIRITUAL: Grow closer to the Lord

April update:  The 40 day fast has been good for me. Right now the word “obey” keeps coming up, not only in my Experiencing God Bible study but throughout my day.

Not a huge fan of that word. It’s HARD. It’s usually not fun. But truthfully, I know it’s a shortcut. I can choose to obey and then be in on what God is doing or, I can not obey, deal with the consequences, learn the lesson by obeying and then get in on what God is doing.

Our team had a group of prayer warriors pray over us a couple weeks ago and it was transformative. God is just…so good. I don’t know that I have the vocabulary to express my amazement in what He did through that prayer meeting.

Sabbath Delight—My favorite day of the week.

For my March goals, you can go here.

How are you doing on your goals?
