Did you know that your pain crushes God’s heart!

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.

They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of His splendor… Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty… Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings, you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday…The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble… God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Isaiah 61:1-3; Psalm 91:1,3-6, 55:22, 9:9, and 46:1

Did you know that your pain crushes God’s heart!

Your pain crushes God’s heart!

Know and remember “… for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye—”  Zechariah 2:8

God takes your pain very personally and He will do what is just and necessary to make all things right.

His ways and timing do not coincide with how you perceive justice and fairness.

You will need to trust Him and believe that He knows all things. Your well being is of utmost importance to the Father.

Your turn

Repeat the following as often as you need in order to believe and memorize … “Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

Keep this truth close for your comfort and assurance.

Now come and pray

“Surely, LORD, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield… I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”… LORD, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart… One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple.

For in the day of trouble, He will keep me safe in His dwelling;

He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.”

Psalm 5:12, 91:2, 125:4, 27:4-5; 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

“Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted… For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin… As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people both now and forevermore.”

Hebrews 2:18, 4:15; Psalm 125:2

God is your Comforter; you can share your burdens with Him!

Your pain crushes God’s heart.

How to do this as a weekly Bible study

Day One: Experience
Read the entire devotion. Do any verses stand out to you? If so, write it down and work on memorizing it over the week. I personally love the app “Scripture Typer.”

Day Two: Observe & Read
Chain. Look up and chain verses (For example on how to chain verses, see this video).

Day Three: Interpret
Read through the chain of verses starting with the first one. What do they say? Do you notice when it says “never” or “always” or “If, but, however, therefore, all…..”

Day Four: Application
Do “Your turn” and make a list of people that God has put on your heart when you read this.

Day Five: Testify
Who in your life, right now, can you share this with? There is somebody in your life that needs to hear this. Close your eyes. What name came to mind?
